Barthélémy Toguo – 11 books!

So in advance of my lecture yesterday I’d just reached a count of 313 titles by black photographers, then today Deb sent me a link to Barthélémy Toguo’s work. I recognize his name though I don’t know that I’ve seen his work before. His site lists 11 publications! This is terrifically exciting, though I don’t think it’s going to be very easy to find them as they’re not even showing up on bookfinder.com for French-language titles. The Sick Opera is available via bookfinder’s English-language titles but the shipping is nearly as much as the book! Unfortunately, I also don’t read French. I need a French connection!  Check out the array of titles below and on his website:

On Toguo’s site you can look at several page spreads for each title; not all are strictly photographic, an issue that comes up regarding this project as to how to classify the work of contemporary artists who work in all media. For now, when there is a predominance of photographic imagery, I will count it among these titles.
