Essamba, Angèle Etoundi. Dialogues: Au-delà des mots (UNESCO, 2006)

Dialogues: Au-delà des mots. Angèle Etoundi Essamba, UNESCO, August 2006.

Organized in collaboration with the Permanent Delegation of Cameroon to UNESCO

Angèle Etoundi Essamba’s work invites us to careful observation, participation, reminds us of the need to see, to understand, and to act.
Even though Essamba’s photographs capture just a single moment in time, they convey something enduring and of great permanence: they can make us see others and ourselves. Others enter into DIALOGUES with us and we dialogue in return in different forms.

“Photographs do not simply mirror the world as it is. Instead they construct their own reality, convey their own perception and message and provide us with a unique image. It is a message that may go well beneath the surface right to the heart of things.Through her lens of great immediacy and powerful curiosity, Angèle Etoundi Essamba enables us not to just look on or at, but to actually look into what is portrayed, captured or created in her work.” – Excerpt from the Exhibit Catalogue.
